Observe, if you will, the following scripture passage from Philippians 4:10-13 (NKJV):
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
There is something powerful to be said about contentment. Paul was sharing with some friends his appreciation for their support of him. He affirms the lesson he learned in his own life experience: that he had come to a place of sufficiency despite the situation in which he found himself. We who belong to the Lord must also come to this place of sufficiency if we are ever to distinguish ourselves as a light in the midst of darkness.
In a world where enough never seems to be enough, contentment has in many ways become an all but fading idea. But if we ever catch hold of what it really means to be satisfied with what God has blessed us with, I believe we would likely eliminate a majority of the waste that often clutters our space.
The Bible confirms in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. So today, remember that you can be and do what God’s Word says you can. Be blessed, and enjoy your day!
